FRIDAY NOTES & NEWS: Four Days Left to Enter Our Flash Fiction Contest

WE ARE looking for flash stories of any genre but with a hard maximum word count of 500. Simultaneous submissions are allowed. As well, you can submit stories previously published elsewhere. And you can enter more than once—but please only one story per submission.

Submission window closes the end of next Monday, June 1, 2026. Our top five winners will be posted on the CommuterLit homepage the week of June 15-19, 2026 and receive cash prizes:

First-place: CAD$100
Second-place: CAD$50
(3) Runners-up: CAD$25

There is a CAD$4 admin fee per submission—this helps keep the contest running.

List Your Latest Book on our Book Store Page

We are preparing our summer 2026 reading list on our Book Store page, where we promote books (both self- and trad-published) written by CommuterLit contributors past and present. Contributors can get their latest books listed for free on our Book Store page by emailing a front cover jpg; a 50-word promotional blurb and a link to buy to the editor at admin-at-commuterLit-dot-com by Saturday, June 13, 2026. Please no AI-generated books.

And yes, according to our last readers survey, people do buy books off our listing.
