FRIDAY NOTES & NEWS: Writing When You’re in a Funk

HOW’S THE writing going? Is it the winter of your discontent? Do you feel you’re stuck in Groundhog Day?

Know that you are not alone. Know also that sometimes you have to fail in order to succeed. Of course, such philosophical thoughts don’t always help you in the moment.

Here are some other strategies you might try:
1. Go out and walk, or do yoga — just move your body.

2. Do something else for a few hours.

3. Write in a cafe or in long-hand — change up your standard practice.

4. Or, alternatively, put yourself on a schedule — same time, same place, and a set amount of time every day.

5. Just write. Doesn’t matter if it’s crap. Just keep writing.

Got any strategies that works for you? Let us know in the comments.
