FRIDAY NOTES & NEWS: Thanks for all your scary stories & NaNoWriMo

BY NANCY KAY CLARK

Thanks everyone for submitting your scary stories. We’ll post the best all next week and on Halloween Monday. If you submitted and you haven’t heard from us by now, that means we haven’t selected your piece for Halloween Week, but we might select it for posting in the coming weeks.

Have any of you participated in NaNoWriMo — where you commit to write a 50,000-word novel in the month of November? As a way to kickstart my writing, which has languished for a few months now, I will be participating for this year for the first time. I totally expect to fall short, but, hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Anybody have any advice for me? Email me at admin-at-commuterlit-dot-com, or leave a comment below.

  1. It sounds challenging! Good Luck!

  2. Yes, I’ve done NaNoWriMo a few times and managed to complete one a few years ago! It was fun if you have the time to devote to it for the whole month. I found listening to music helped me get inspired to start writing and I allowed myself to write about anything and everything to start myself off each day then once the wheels were greased I’d write relative to my project. Best of luck!
