WEDNESDAY: St. Peter’s Canal

Down the canal path
sprouted alders
weave their young tips,
framing a verdant,
sky dappled canopy

This shaded byway
descends to the
village harbour
where church spires
pierce
a plumed sky

In gentled
canal waters, anglers
dangle patient lines,
weary vessels
ease their way home
