FRIDAY NOTES & NEWS: Four Days Left to Enter our Flash Fiction Contest

SUBMISSIONS FOR the Flash Fiction Week 2025 contest are open. Deadline: end of day EDT, Monday, June 9.

We are looking for stories with a maximum length of 500 words. Simultaneous submissions and already published stories are welcome. You can also enter the contest more than once, but please only one story per entry.

The top five submissions in each contest will be posted on CommuterLit the week of June 23-27, 2024. and will receive cash prizes:

First-place: CA$100
Second-place: CA$50
(3) Honourable Mentions: CA$25

Annual Summer Hiatus
From Monday, June 30 to Friday, Sept. 5 CommuterLit will be taking its annual summer hiatus. That means the last post before the break will be Friday, June 27 and the first post afterwards will be Monday, Sept. 8. Our last weekly newsletter before the break will be Monday, June 23 and our first newsletter in September will be Monday, Sept. 8. Monthly writer circle group meetings will also be on a break and will pick up in September. General and Editorial Critique submissions will remain open, but do not expect a speedy reply back.
