MONDAY: City Sugar

A bouquet of I-beams
wrapped in girders
is presented to Toronto
right here where the 401
makes a snug belt across the
GTA’s waistline.

Don’t worry about the future.
Those I-beams won’t buckle
from tensions pressing the sky.

They come with a promise of commitment
to stay true while the city expands
in beautiful window-lit inches.
