Carey, Alice

Alice in front of the church in Haworth

Since retiring from her long-term position in a university library, Alice Carey has been focusing her life on writing. One of Alice’s stories was awarded honourable mention in the Dorothy Shoemaker short story contest. She’s taken courses and numerous workshops with Brian Henry. Alice has been a certifiable arachnophobe since the age of four, when a Hobo Spider leaped out of a crack in the concrete steps and bit her, causing much screaming, swelling and an emergency trip to the doctor. Alice lives in Guelph,ON, with her husband of many years, Ken. He no longer kills many-legged things for her.
