FRIDAY NOTES & NEWS: Flash Fiction Submission Deadline Monday, June 7

You have three more days to get your flash fiction (max. word count 500) submitted for our flash fiction week in mid June. If you would like to submit your work to be featured that week send it to us via the regular Submittable “General Submission” portal by end of day Monday, June 7. Please mention in your cover letter the submission is for Flash Fiction Week. Or if you have already submitted something appropriate and would like it now to be considered for the week, remind the editor of your submission by sending her a message through Submittable.

Mitchell Toews’ short story “Fetch was chosen from a pool of 785 contestants as a finalist in the Writers’ Union of Canada’s  2021 Emerging Writer Short Prose Contest.

From Gail Murray: Canadian poets are invited to submit up to six unpublished poems to the Brooklin (Ontario) Poetry Society’s 4rd Annual Poetry Contest. This year’s theme is Renaissance.The winning poem will receive a $100 cash prize. Second place is worth $75, and third place is $50. Winning entries and honourable mentions will be published on the Brooklin Poetry Society website in fall 2021. Deadline to submit is midnight, June 30th, 2021.
