Winter Poem # 1 (the cloaked woman)

On this first day of
snow staying on the ground,
even though it is nothing but
a gently, homey, stay-inside feeling
I know sometime I’ll remember it as our first snowdown together.

The smell of someone smoking inside
and the shutness
of windows.

The cloaked woman came out tonight.

Winter Poem # 2

Styrofoam snow pellets
in a world without air.
Lavender sky turns peach salmon.

Metallic snow filling up the sky,
cotton in tree forks.

Thick silver step-pressings
everywhere.
