TUESDAY: Leather II

When I’m 64
will you beat me and stretch me?
Will you scud and stud me,
and tan my raw hide,
before turning me
into the streets
worn and skinless?
Will you put my skin on the market

…where along with
tampons and batteries
denim and paperclips
faded braided rugs
I will lay inert in
the summer sun on
trestle tables waiting
to be claimed by
a new lover?
