For 40 years, Sylvia helped learners achieve their aspirations through learning as a classroom teacher, school principal, and superintendent of schools, ending her career with 11 years as the president of Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario. 

Sylvia holds a BA from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a BEd. And MEd. from University of Toronto. She has completed Humber College’s Creative Writing Graduate Certificate and is an active member of the Niagara Branch of The Canadian Authors Association.

In retirement, Sylvia has completed her first novel, a historical fiction situated on the banks of the Spanish River in Northern Ontario, told through the eyes of a young woman who has mysteriously travelled from 1980 to 1880. In her short stories, she explores the modern-day challenges uniting our human condition.

These days, Sylvia and her husband live under a canopy of maples on a small lake near Penetanguishene, Ontario.
