Whitaker, June

June Whitaker is British, but, for many years, has lived in the south of Spain. She’s an avid reader, writer, gardener and sun worshipper.

Her debut novel, Facing the Light, reflects June’s particular affection for a little-known corner of Andalusia where she lived part-time during the seventies, one of those rural areas where life for many Spaniards had yet to enter the twentieth century.

June’s writing has achieved success in U.K. competitions including the Yeovil Literary Prize, novel category; the First Novel Competition; the Cinnamon Press Fiction Prize; the Retreat West First Chapter Competition; PENfro First Chapter Competition; and the Flash 500 in both novel and flash fiction categories. Her second novel, set in France and Spain, is almost finished in first draft.
